
Exercise advice and News

Hello again from nirvana fitness. This week we will focus a little on exercise and the news from here at nirvana.
When walking round the gym and speaking to a few people, some are unaware of how important the order of your exercises can be to an effective workout. If you are looking to work your whole body in one session then there is a science to it, also if you are training on a one, two or any other day split there are also some things you need to consider. Firstly however I would like to state there are other ways to train such as a PHA but we shall save that for another time.
So if you want a full body workout in one session there are some muscles you need to work before others;
Chest before triceps – this is because when working your chest one of the main muscles that helps you to perform is your triceps. Therefore if you were to work your triceps first you would then effectively cut down the amount you should be able to lift when working chest. This will be the same for most of the other exercises we will look at.
Back before Biceps – this is due to the same theory as above. As you may notice next time you do a back exercise, your biceps are heavily involved.
Biceps before shoulders – the shoulder muscle group “fixate” the arm when performing biceps exercises. Therefore training shoulders before arms would be unwise.
Triceps before shoulders – this is more important if you are performing a shoulder press movement. The triceps are again used heavily in supporting the muscle shoulders when raised and should therefore be trained after.
Abdominal / core work – almost every exercise you will do will contain some element of core work. So if you were to do core work before or during your workout you will affect your other exercises.
The above section is programme planning in a nutshell. Of course there are lots of variations on the above but by following these guidelines you will be able to make your workout more effective.
Now for the news at Nirvana.
In terms of new happenings here we will be hosting Jazz nights ! With the Climax Jazz Band playing every Wednesday in March , starting at 8:30 and finishing around 10:30. Anyone who requires more information should contact us or pop in.
